Oftentimes when the words scarf and hat are used, most of us tend to think of cooler weather, ski caps, and snow.

Hats
One of the most popular patterns is the bucket hat sewing pattern. These hats are perfect for keeping the sun off the face and neck during the warmer months.
Most other hats only protect the face, but the continuous rim of this hat keeps the ears and neck protected as well.
What fabric is best for a bucket hat?
The best fabrics used to make bucket hats are either quilters’ cotton or cotton canvas. The cotton canvas keeps the bucket hat heavier, and the quilters’ cotton still protects with a bucket hat that is flimsier and flows more.
How much fabric do I need to make a bucket hat?
Scraps left over from another project is a great way to find fabric to make a bucket hat. It is necessary to have 14” of fabric that is 36” wide for the hat and a second piece that is also the same size to be used for the lining of the bucket hat.
