It’s no secret—quilt and fabric shops are becoming harder to find these days. With many independent stores closing and even Joann’s shutting down locations, finding quality fabric in person has become more challenging. And let’s face it—most quilters and sewists prefer to feel and see fabric before buying!
If you're someone who loves to shop for fabric in person, we’ve put together a helpful directory of brick-and-mortar fabric stores that we at Needlepointers.com have personally visited during vacations and shop hops.
We also have a Google Map that contains pins for shops in the 2025 shop hop, shops that were recommended to us, shops we have visited.
NOTE: We try to keep this list and map updated. Before travelling to visit any of these shops, please call and check to make sure they are still open! If you find that a shop on our list or map has closed, please use our Contact Us form to let us know so we may update the map.
Each listing includes our notes on the store’s fabric selection, notions, quilting and sewing supplies, and also other craft supplies to help you know what to expect before you go.
For your convenience, the shops are organized by state—making it easy to find stores near you or along your travel route. Many of these shops also have online stores, so even if you can’t visit in person, you can still support local businesses from afar.
Planning a road trip or vacation? Don’t forget to check our list and visit some of these wonderful fabric stores along the way!
