I have always loved quilts. Even as a child, I would trace the outline of the pieces that made up the quilt blocks of the old quilt that my grandma would use to cover me up when I spent the night at my grandparents’ house.
Although this was my paternal grandmother who had the hexies quilt that I liked to trace, it was my maternal grandmother who was the avid quilter. It makes my heart happy to continue that craft that she so dearly loved.
When I was a young teen, my grandmother helped me make my first quilt. She had many friends who quilted, so it was not difficult to find quilt block patterns that l liked.
We gathered the free quilt block patterns from her friends, and my first quilt was a sampler of many different quilt blocks.
Now, as an adult, quilting has become my passion. Quilting quiets my noisy and busy mind, and it gives me a chance to nurture my need to create beautiful things.
I love giving my quilts away as gifts to family and friends, and the joy I find in quilting for charity is something I cannot begin to express.
And I still search for free quilt block patterns. We at Needlepointers.com know you do too. So we have gathered a wide variety of free quilt block patterns for you to browse through.
