My first attempt at quilting after I had hand pieced and quilted with my grandmother as a teenager was a making a quilted spring table runner..

My dear friend Chris took me under her wing, went with me to purchase fabric (she was gentle as she looked at my choices and offered alternate suggestions), and had me at her house using her sewing machine to create my first project.

Chris had patience.  So much more patience than I had for myself.

I’ve done much quilting since, and I am so glad that I kept that simple and small quilted table runner.  I had thoughts of tossing it; it was such an embarrassment.  

But it is a wonderful reminder of how far I’ve come.  And I still put it on my table every spring.

I’ve learned that I love a table runner; it adds color and texture to my table, as well as adding interest to an otherwise boring piece of flat topped furniture.

If you want to change the mood of your room or decorate your table for the holidays, a table runner is just the thing to do so. The design and fabric of the table runner sets the tone.

A quilted table runner can be the foundation for your table decor, and it protects your table from damage like water marks, spills, food stains, and heat damage.
