DIY No-Sew Wrapped Fashion Doll Top

No-sew fashion doll clothes are a fun and easy way to create custom outfits without needing a needle and thread!

This tutorial demonstrates how to create a no-sew halter top for a fashion doll that can be worn in two different ways. All that is needed is a strip of t-shirt material to make fashion doll clothes look stunning.

No needle and thread are necessary! This is a quick and easy way to create a stylish fashion doll top.

WHAT YOU NEED to make a no-sew halter top for a fashion doll

• Old t-shirt
• Fabric scissors
• Ruler

INSTRUCTIONS To make a fashion doll top

STEP 1: Cut a strip from a t-shirt

Lay out the t-shirt on the work surface and smooth out any wrinkles. The strip is going to be cut from the bottom of the shirt.

First, cut off the hem of the T-shirt. Then measure 1-1/2" from the raw edge and cut a strip.  This will be a circle of fabric measuring 1-1/2" wide.

The t-shirt fabric is ideal for making this DIY doll top, as it is stretchy.

Step 2: Cut one side of the strip

Carefully cut one side of the strip so it becomes one long continuous strip. If there is a side seam, cut the strip open at the seam.  Also, cut off the seam.

Step 3: Wrap the strip around the doll

Find the center of the fabric strip. Lay the doll down on the work surface with her arms raised.

Lay the center of the fabric strip across the doll's waist and chest.

Wrap both ends of the fabric around to the back and cross them. 

Wrap the ends around to the front of the doll.

Take each side of the fabric, and cross each end over the opposite shoulder of the doll.

Wrap the fabric over the doll's shoulders and cross it in the back.

Wrap the ends around to the front of the doll again and tie the fabric ends together.

Cut off the extra fabric at the ends of the strip. The doll halter top is complete.

A second way to make the doll's top

STEP 1: FOLLOW STEPS ONE AND TWO

This alternate way to put the top of the doll begins with the same strip that is used in the first set of instructions.

Step 2: Wrap the strip around the doll

Wrap the strip around the doll in the same way as the first top, except before tying in the front, wrap the ends around to the back and tie it in the back.

Then, push the fabric strip off of the doll's shoulders to make it into an off the shoulder look.

The DIY fabric top is complete!

Now the doll has two tops in one!! Make another strip from a different colored t-shirt to give her even more variety to choose from!
