STEP 1:
Turn off the machine and unplug it.
STEP 2:
Remove presser foot and needle from the machine.
STEP 3:
Unscrew and remove the needle plate and cover.
STEP 4:
Remove bobbin and bobbin holder. When removing the bobbin holder, mentally remember the direction it was in the machine so you know how to put it back into the machine.
STEP 5:
Use a soft brush to brush out any lint that is in the machine. IMPORTANT! Never use a sharp instrument to remove the lint.
STEP 6:
Put the machine plate, bobbin case, and other plate on the machine in the proper order. I learned this the hard way because one time I did not put them back in the right order and my machine would not work correctly.
