Supplies for the Fleece Infinity Scarf:

- Needle and Thread
- Scissors or Rotary Cutter
- Sewing Machine
- Basic Sewing Skills
INSTRUCTIONS To make the fleece infinity scarf
STEP 1: HOW TO CUT FABRIC
The first step is to cut the fabric 18" wide by the width of fabric (WOF). Sometimes fabric store does not cut the fabric straight. So, align your fabric selvage along a line on the cutting mat so it's straight. Using a ruler, cut off a small amount so that the edge is straight.
Next, align the straight edge and the selvage along two lines on the mat. Measure 18" from the previously cut edge. Use your ruler to cut straight across the fabric. This will give you a piece of fabric which is 18" x 59-60".
Cut off the selvage from the non-folded short edge (18" edge) of the fabric.
STEP 2: SEWING THE LONG END
Fold the fabric in half, lining up the long sides with right sides together. Pin along the edge to hold it in place.
With the sewing machine, sew the long side together using a 1/2" seam allowance. Reinforce the beginning and ending stitches by back-tacking. Back-tacking is stitching a few stitches forward, then stitch backward a few stitches and then begin stitching forward again.
The scarf is now a long tube of fabric.
STEP 3: CENTERING AND IRONING
Lay the scarf on the ironing board with the seam in the middle of the tube. With an iron, press the seam open.
STEP 4: TURNING AND BRINGING END TOGETHER
Once the seam is pressed open, turn the fabric tube right side facing out.
Pull one end of the scarf all the way up to the other end. Do not twist the fabric as you pull. The seams should be aligned on top of each other as shown below. Neatly align the edges of the short ends with right sides together. Pin all the way around the circle.
Take the pinned ends to the sewing machine and stitch around the circle using a 1/2" seam, leaving a 4 or 5-inch opening. This opening will be used to turn the scarf right side out.
Back-tack at the beginning and end of the seam to secure it.
STEP 5: FINISHING
It is time to turn the scarf right side out. Reach into the opening and begin pulling the fabric out through the opening. Continue pulling until the scarf is entirely out. Turn the raw edges of the opening inside the hole, pinch the edges together and pin the opening closed.
Using a needle and thread, hand sew the opening closed.
