Winter-time brings with it the excitement of the winter holidays! If you are looking for great kids’ Christmas craft ideas for your kiddos to make this season, you have come to the right place!!
I enjoy making crafts with kids for any holiday, but there is such a build up of excitement in the little ones during the entire month of December leading up to the Christmas holiday!
It seems that with each children’s Christmas craft we finish, more joy and excitement can be seen in the kids’ faces.
When my kids were young, every one of their Christmas projects were hung to decorate the house or wrapped up as gifts for the special people in their lives.
I, like many other parents, felt this great desire to give family, especially grandparents, homemade gifts from the kids. If you’re looking for the perfect gift, you will find a loads of inspiration from the Christmas crafts for kids that we’ve put together for you here.
Children’s Christmas Ornament Crafts
When each of my kids’ first Christmas came around, I made Christmas ornaments for our tree and for the trees of all of the grandparents. The gift was from the baby to grandma and grandpa.
By the next year, the toddlers that they had become made the Christmas ornaments with my help. And, as the years went on, they played a much bigger role in choosing and making the ornaments to be given.
We have many kids' Christmas craft tutorials below that will help you and the kids make the perfect ornament this year.
If you have a toddler at home, one of the easiest ornaments that will also give them great fine-motor practice and improve their hand-eye coordination as they craft is the Bead Garland Christmas Ornament.
We have both a video and a written tutorial for this project, and it’s easy peasy!!
Be sure to use the plastic fillable ornaments when making these or any other fillable ornaments with the little kids!
I especially love the Paper Straw Christmas Ornaments! Your elementary school-aged kiddos will enjoy this unique kids' Christmas craft idea, for sure. This is the first time I’ve seen this done, and I think it is so creative!
It’s definitely not too simple or too difficult! As Goldilocks would say, “It’s just right!”.
There are directions for three different ornaments made with the paper straws. Be sure to check it out!
There are so many other Christmas tree ornaments below that you will not want to miss, so keep scrolling.
Kids’ Christmas Craft Ideas to Decorate the Home
Although you could use any of the Christmas craft ideas below as decorations for your home, there are a couple that I think are just delightful.
Be sure to take a look at the Clay Pot Snowman craft! I think this cute stand-up table decoration would be perfect for older elementary and tweens, but younger kids could work on it with your help. I would even enjoy this craft!
Handprint crafts are wonderful keepsakes and make sweet decorations as well! The Kids Hand Christmas Wreath is a project I’ve done many times in my classroom.
The tutorial suggests using craft foam, felt and pom pons. However, I’ve had the kids make their handprints in green paint. For the older kids, I had them use construction paper to trace their own hands and then cut them out.
I think the red pom pons make a nice 3-D look, but in the past we’ve made them with red finger prints or red construction paper, and they were just as cute.
Looking for a children’s Christmas craft for the older kids to make to decorate the home?
I know, I know….pasta crafts can look so cheesy. But the 3D Pasta Christmas Trees look so festive and non-noodly when complete! BONUS: this project will keep them busy for quite a while!
The directions call for the use of a hot glue gun, and I am not a fan of them, especially for the kids. The hot glue does the trick to be sure, but the burn factor with hot glue is real.
I would give Aleene's Craft Glue a try on this one. This glue formula has a higher grabbing power than school glue. The noodles won’t stick instantly, but they will adhere quicker than other glues would with no risk of burns.
What Else Can You Find Below?
This page has many more kids' Christmas craft ideas; I’ve only listed a few above. You’ll find garlands, holiday cards, printables, candy cane crafts, and so much more!
This is a page not to be missed!
Pssst! If you are looking for winter crafts for kids that are not related to specific holidays, we have you covered!
