how to make the stocking garland
STEP 1: Supplies
To make the sock garland, gather the supplies. All these supplies I bought were purchased at the dollar store for $1 each. So the entire project only cost me $7.
I purchased 5 pairs of socks for my garland. However, you can purchase more or fewer socks to make the garland shorter or longer.
Another option would be to make a mitten garland. The dollar store and craft store sell mini mittens for only $1.
STEP 2: Remove Packaging
It goes without really having to say, but remove the tags from the socks and the clothespins from the bag. Be careful with removing the sock tags. You don't want to cut the socks.
Take the wrapper off the clothesline and start to unwind it. You will only be using part of the clothesline. The balance can be saved for another project.
STEP 3: hanging loop
To hang the sock garland, you will need a loop. To make the loop, tie an overhand knot at the end of the clothesline.
STEP 4: attach Socks
Let's begin attaching the socks. Just take a craft or regular size clothespin and attach a sock to the clothesline.
You may want to use a ruler to measure an equal distance between the socks.
STEP 5: Pinning
Continue pinning socks to the line.
STEP 6: Finishing
When the stocking garland is the length you want, with a scissor cut the clothesline and tie another overhand knot.
The sock or stocking garland is done. SO QUICK! SO EASY!
How can you decorate with the sock garland? String the sock garland across a hutch, along a mantle, in a window or around the door.
I am really happy how simple and quick this stocking garland was to make. And I love the way it looks in my home.
Want to make it into a Christmas stocking garland event calendar? Simple purchase enough socks, cut out numbers from felt fabric and use fabric glue or hot glue to attach them to the front of socks.
A super quick tree trimming idea is to hang Christmas socks individually on the Christmas tree.
