DIY CRAFTS TO MAKE FOR YOUR DOG OR CAT

Gotta love those fur babies of ours!!  For most pet owners, they are a constant source of unconditional love.  They truly become part of the family!

I know you love to craft and create, and what better way to enjoy creating than to make crafts for your dogs and cats?!

Toys for Dogs and Cats

Buying toys for your furry friends can get quite expensive; trust me, I went crazy when I adopted our two cats last month.  Our very old cat, Wicket, had passed away, and my son and I wanted that lovely feeling of having a pet in the house.  

Wicket was old and slow, and he didn’t do much more than sleep.  Well, these two who are not quite one-year-olds, are full of spunk and energy.  They love to play.  All. Of. The. Time!

A favorite toy of theirs is a stuffed bird with feathers and ribbons for a tail.  It’s on a stick, and they will carry the bird, dragging the stick, over to us in order to play.

If you take a look at the Feather Cat Toy project below, you can easily make this craft for cats at a fraction of the cost!  Cats love feathered toys, and for a minimal amount of money and time, they will be able to jump and play until they are worn right out.

The denim for the toy is made from old jeans!  No sewing necessary.  You just need jeans, scissors and a ruler!

Cat Crafts: Scratching Posts

I just love our sweet cats, Cooper and Ginger, but they scratch at everything in the house!  I honestly have never had a cat that scratches like these two. Nothing is safe; the couch, the chairs, the mattresses, and not even the walls! 

If you have a cat, you know that you need a scratching post if you want to save your furniture!  The Cactus Scratching Post is so cute!

This craft for cats uses many supplies from the hardware and craft stores, but it is definitely worth the time and energy to make it. Be sure to check it out. It’s just so adorable.

The foundation for this cat craft is a simple and inexpensive bedside table, costing under $15 at IKEA.  You really need to see this one!

DIY Dog Bed Crafts and Snuffle Mats

You will find many tutorials on this page for different styles of dog beds.  They are all a little bit different from each other; just find the one that meets your needs.  Your pup will thank you!

I found the idea of a dog cooling mat so interesting!  We had a small dog who loved to go on walks, but he was older and his little legs had to work so hard to keep up.  He was hot and exhausted at the end of his summer walks.  

The Dog Cooling Mat would have been perfect for him!  It has a place to add ice packs (or a frozen bag of peas) inside the mat to cool your dog off. 

Does your dog need a Snuffle Mat?  Why, sure they do!!!  Snuffle mats are pretty costly to purchase, and this tutorial shows you how to make one for less than $10 in less than an hour!

The snuffle mat develops your pup’s ability to track a scent while slowing down their eating. My cats are fast eaters too!  I’m thinking they could benefit from their own snuffle mat!  The mat can be a source of exercise and mental stimulation as well.
