Calling all Harry Potter fans! Wouldn't it be fun if your 18" doll could play a game of Quidditch? This broom is very simple to make and a special accessory for these dolls. It is made with simple materials you probably already have on hand.
This miniature broom can be used in many different ways. As mentioned, it can be used for wizarding time, Quidditch doll playtime, as an accessory in a doll house, or as a spooky witch broom as a Halloween decoration.
This tutorial shows how to make mini brooms for any 18" doll, like an American Girl Doll, Our Generation, Journey, Playtime by Emmie, My Life As, and New Adventures Styles dolls that will bring a piece of the wizarding world to their playtime.

WHAT YOU NEED to make a broom for an 18" doll
- 15"-16" thin branch
- Straw from an old broom or dried flower leaves
- Twine
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
here are INSTRUCTIONS to make a harry potter inspired broom
STEP 1: Cut the straw
For this tutorial, I am using straw from an old broom. Kids, if you are planning to cut the straw from an real broom, be sure to ask your parent for permission.
First, gather the materials: a thin stick and some dried flower leaves or straw from a broom. The straw will be too long for the doll broom as it is, so cut it in half. Set the straw (or dried leaves if you're using them) aside.
Step 2: glue the straw to the branch
This step involves using a hot glue gun, so parental supervision may be needed if a child is making this broom. Take the glue gun and spread some glue around the branch, about one inch up one end of the branch.
Take the straw and place it in the glue, piece by piece.
Once the straw has been placed around the branch, add more glue to build up the straw end of the stick.
Keep adding straw until the broom has the desired fullness.
step 3: tie a piece of twine around the straw to hold it together
Using the glue gun, add a ring of glue around the straw a short distance from the top of the straw on the branch.
Take one end of the twine, place it on the glue, and wrap the twine around the broom several times. Then, cut the twine and adhere the end to the broom.
step 4: cut the bottom of the doll broom
If desired, use the scissors to cut the bottom of the straw to make it even.
The broom for the 18" doll is finished! Use it to play quidditch or as an accessory for the doll in her dollhouse!
I hope you enjoyed learning how to make a broom for an 18" doll. This doll accessory is so simple! Try it out!
