WHAT YOU NEED to make the crocheted wreath ornament

Crochet Wreath Ornament Supplies

About the Crochet Wreath Ornament Patterns

The patterns to make the large and small Christmas crochet ornament are similar.  These crochet wreath patterns can be stitched with any size ring.  I used a 1" ring for the small wreath and a 2" ring for the large wreath.Crochet Wreath Ornament Rings

The number of stitches around the ring can be adjusted for any size ring and yarn combination.

For the red and green wreath samples, I used 28 single crochets to cover the large ring.  For the small ring, 14 single crochets.  The green yarn is a heavier weight yarn.Crochet Wreath Ornament Small Large with Ring

For the blue and white crochet wreath ornaments, I used worsted-weight yarn, which is lighter than the green yarn.  For these, 36 single crochets filled the large ring, and 18 single crochets filled the small ring. Crochet Wreath Ornament Finished

You can use almost any size ring and yarn for this project.  Stitch around the ring until it covers it completely, and stitch an even number of single crochets.

For the loops around the rings, use six chains for the large wreath and four chains for the small crochet wreath.

The step-by-step instructions will demonstrate how to make the large crochet wreath ornament.  The small wreath is made through the same process except there will be less single crochets around the ring and four chains for the loops.

Crochet Wreath Pattern and STEP-by-Step INSTRUCTIONS

I am left-handed, so the photos below show left-handed crochet.  You will work around the ring in the opposite direction if you are right-handed.

This pattern uses only three simple crochet stitches: single crochet, chain, and slip stitch.  So, even though I’m working it backward for right-handed crocheters, I believe you can follow along as it’s a simple pattern.

Experience Level: Easy
Size Hook: H or 3.5mm
Yarn Weights: Baby through Worsted Weight is recommended

Step 1: Stitch around the ring

Using a size H (3.5mm) crochet hook and color 1, stitch single crochets (SC) around the ring until the whole ring is covered. Slide the stitches together while stitching around the ring to ensure the whole ring is covered.

The number of stitches around the ring will vary depending on the weight of the yarn used. For the large crochet wreath ornament and the green/red yarn, 28 single crochet stitches filled the ring, but with the blue/white yarn, 36 single crochet stitches were needed to fill the ring.
