If you are not familiar with yo-yo crochet, this page will be sure to enlighten you and most likely send you on your first yo-yo journey.
These lovely little yo-yos are quite trendy right now and are quickly making a rapid come-back. There are many different ways and designs for the crochet yo-yo.
In its most basic form it is simply a small circle crochet pattern made by crocheting one or two rounds of stitches.
A new form of yo-yo crochet is the yo-yo puff. This is a take on the basic yo-yo design, but has additional steps to make it three dimensional, and as might be discerned, it is a puffy rather than a flat yo-yo.
These lovely little circles are combined to make a plethora of yo-yo crochet patterns and projects.

Basic yo-yo crochet
A popular way of making a crochet yo-yo begins with a “magic circle” which is an adjustable ring, also called a “magic ring”. Double Treble Crochets are made inside the ring.
The beginning yarn of the magic circle is then pulled after the crochet is finished to form a nice, tight circle motif.
These crochet yo-yos are made up quickly and are quite addicting!
Puff Yo-Yo crochet
This newest form of yo-yo crochet makes a fun, three dimensional yo-yo. This is not a typical crochet circular shape. It is a double layer puff, much like the fabric version of a yo-yo.
It is made by stitching a second row after turning the project, creating triple crochets on the back. This is what makes it puffy.
Scroll down to learn how to make both the basic yo-yo crochet and puff yo-yo crochet. These circles are a great way to use up the scrap and left-over yarn.
Happy yo-yo making!!
