How to make a No-Sew Doll Halter Top for an 18-inch doll

WHAT YOU NEED to make a no-sew halter top

• 15" square piece of fabric
• small hair tie
• Scissors

INSTRUCTIONS to make a doll top

STEP 1: Fold the piece of fabric

For this tutorial, a piece of knit fabric was used, but feel free to use cotton instead.

Using scissors, cut a square of fabric that measures 15" x 15".

Lay the piece of fabric right side up. Fold the fabric in half,and then in half again. It should be a square shape.

Now, fold it one more time so that it forms a triangle.

There should be a point where all of the fabrics are together. Take this point and put the hair tie on the end, about an inch down.

The wrong side of the fabric should have the rubber band showing. 

Lay the fabric wrong side down on the work surface.

Step 2: Tie the dIY doll top onto the doll

Lay the 18-inch doll down on the table next to the fabric. Pick up the fabric and lay it over the top portion of the doll.

Take the top two corners around the doll's neck and tie them together in a knot in the back.

Be sure to keep the doll's hair away while tying so it doesn't get caught in the knot.

Once the top two corners are tied around the doll's neck, turn the doll over and fold the bottom of the piece of fabric under just a bit so it is in line with the doll's waist.

Take the bottom two corners and tie them around the back of the doll. Be sure to tie a knot so it doesn't come undone.

Step 3: Adjust the halter top

Lay the doll on the work surface. With your fingers, adjust the fabric at the shoulders of the doll folding it under a bit.

Pull the fabric down under the doll's chin to make it more of a V-neck style. 

A few adjustments and the halter top is complete!
