INSTRUCTIONS to make a small crayon box

STEP 1: Take the crayon box apart

To create the miniature crayon box, a regular-sized crayon box must be disassembled and then copied with a printer.

First, carefully open the glued side of the box by separating the two pieces without tearing them. When this has been done, lay the crayon box flat with no folds.Crayon Box Coloring Book_1.1.1

Step 2: Make a copy of the crayon box

Make sure the printer/copier is set to the color option. Reduce the print size by 35% (make a copy at 65%). Put the unfolded crayon box on the printer and make a color copy.Crayon Box Coloring Book_1.1.2

Step 3: Cut out the small crayon box

Use the craft scissors to cut along the outside perimeter of the crayon box copy, being sure to stay right on the line.Mini Doll Coloring Book_1.1.2

On the side that will be glued, cut it a little bit wider to make gluing easier.Mini Doll Coloring Book_1.1.3

Step 4: Glue the copy to the card stock

Lay the cut copy on a piece of card stock or tagboard. An old greeting card can be used if card stock or tagboard is not available.Crayon Box Coloring Book_1.1.3

Use the glue stick to attach the copy of the crayon box to the thick paper.Crayon Box Coloring Book_1.1.4

Using the craft scissors, cut around the outside of the crayon box again, cutting through the cardstock.Crayon Box Coloring Book_1.1.5

Step 5: Crease the areas to be folded

Lay the small crayon box copy face down on the work surface. Using the ruler, make a crease on each fold line. If you are unsure where there is a fold, look at the large crayon box that was unfolded.Mini Doll Coloring Book_1.1.4

Fold the edges up on the crease line.Crayon Box Coloring Book_1.1.7

Step 6: Fold and glue the small box

Next, fold the crayon box together and use the glue stick to adhere the side where the extra amount of paper was left on the box. Mini Doll Coloring Book_1.1.5

To hold the box in place until the glue dries, wrap the rubber band around the crayon box. Crayon Box Coloring Book_1.1.10Once it is dry, remove the rubber band and the doll crayon box is ready to use!

  • Scissors
  • Stapler and staples

Instructions for making a doll coloring book

Step 1: Color copy the front and back covers

Take the coloring book to the copier/printer and make sure it is set to use colored ink. Make a color copy of the front of the coloring book, reducing it by 25% (make a copy at 75%).Mini Doll Coloring Book_1.1.6Do the same for the back of the coloring book, also reducing it by 25%.

Step 2: Copy the inside pages

Next, open the coloring book and make a black-and-white copy of some of the inside pages. You will not want to copy all of the inside pages, as this will make the mini coloring book too thick.  Also, reduce these copies by 25%.

Step 3: Cut out the copies

Using the craft scissors, cut out the colored and black-and-white copies that have been made.

Step 4: staple the pages together

Using the stapler and staples, attach the coloring book pages together with the front cover on top and the back cover on the back of the mini coloring book.Crayon Box Coloring Book_1.1.11
