Lazy Daisy Stitch on Plastic Canvas

Plastic canvas is the fun art of embroidering on plastic canvas sheets.  This is so versatile, allowing the stitcher to create lovely two and three dimensional projects that are both useful and beautiful.

One of my favorites is the Christmas Basket Ornament. This is a darling 3D easy plastic canvas ornament that is fun to stitch and adorable to look at.

It is possible to make a huge variety of stitches on the plastic canvas, from functional stitches used to hold the 3D objects together to lovely stitches used to embellish the plastic canvas project.Lazy Daisy Stitch on Plastic Canvas - fb

On this page, the pretty embellishment stitch called the Lazy Daisy stitch will be taught. The Lazy Daisy stitch can also be used in hand embroidery projects.

The lazydaisy stitch is a darling stitch that is used to make petal shapes.  It is the perfect stitch to create flowers and leaves on plastic canvas and hand embroidery.

This is an easy plastic canvas stitch, and with a little practice, the stitcher will enjoy the opportunity to make this stitch as an embellishment or part of a plastic canvas design.

WHAT YOU NEED to make the easy plastic canvas lazy daisy stitch

  • Plastic canvas
  • Yarn
  • Tapestry needle

INSTRUCTIONS To Make the Lazydaisy stitch on plastic canvas

STEP 1: Pull the yarn up through the back of the plastic canvas

If this lazydaisy will be made by adding another yarn color, follow the directions for starting yarn in plastic canvas. Pull the needle up from the back of the fabric where the placement of bottom tip of the Laisy Daisy stitch is desired. Pull gently making sure the yarn is pulled completely up through the plastic canvas.

step 2: make the loop of the laisy daisy stitch

Next, push the needle down through the hole that the needle just came up from.  Be sure to make a loop at the top.  Do not pull the thread all of the way through the plastic canvas.  Be sure to hold the loop with the hand that is not stitching.

Depending on how large the Lazy Daisy stitch is to be made according to the project directions, push the needle up from the back of the plastic canvas inside of the yarn loop that was made.

STEP 3: secure the loop of the lazy daisy stitch on the plastic canvas

Once the loop is caught by the needle and thread coming up from the back of the plastic canvas, push the needle down into the top in the same hole that the needle just came up.

Don't pull the yarn too tightly that the loop of the Lazydaisy stitch is pulled down into the plastic canvas.  The stitch should float above the stitching done on the plastic canvas below the Lazy Daisy stitch.

That's all there is to it!  The Lazy Daisy stitch on plastic canvas is complete.
