On Valentine’s Day we recognize the people we love. Surprise your beloved with a Valentine you knit with your own hands. Just scroll down below to find links to the free Valentine knitting patterns.
Start with a basic Knit Heart to get your fingers warmed up. Perhaps you will knit a whole basket of these hearts to give to teachers, bowling buddies, or grandchildren. Once you have mastered a basic heart design, check out the myriad ways that heart designs can be used in your knitting.
Valentine Knitting Patterns
A hand knit Valentine is appropriate for all ages and appreciated for the time and care you took in creating it. Throw pillows are fun and relatively quick to make—like the Lay My Love pillow or Chunky Knit Heart pillow. Dishcloths (which can also be spa washcloths if you package them in a gift bag with some handmade soap) are another quick project that will get used every day. Try the Hugs and Kisses dishcloth or the Lovely Heart dishcloth.

Looking for a gift to knit for a special man? How about a pair of socks? The Heart of Gold Socks could be knit in menswear colors so he could wear them any day of the year—and think of you when he does. Or make a romantic Smitten—a mitten made for two hands together!
