We have heard that there is a belief that expert sewers never use a seam ripper. This is totally untrue! Everyone who sews has to use a seam ripper. And we all use them a lot. So don't be ashamed or embarrassed if you have to rip out stitches and try again. WE ALL HAVE TO!

So, pick one of these simple sewing projects, watch our video tutorial, read our written instructions and learn to sew, one project at a time. If you have a question, go to the Youtube video page and post your question in the comments section. We try to reply to all questions.

Everyone learns to sew by starting with simple sewing projects for beginners. I learned to sew in 4-H starting when I was 8 years old. I remember joining 4-H and my Mom (who you also know from the videos), told me that I had to take a sewing project for two years. If I didn't like it after the two years, I could quit. The first year I made a tote bag. 2nd year was a skirt with a zipper. I was hooked!

I participated in the 4-H Fashion Revue every year until I graduated high school. In those years, I progressed through sewing making dresses, prom gowns, and even a wool suit. I have now taught my daughter to sew through 4-H and she has made dresses, skirts, and tops. She has participated in the 4-H Fashion Revue for several years. Learn more about 4-H by clicking the link and looking for 4-H clubs in your area. 4-H is not just animal projects!

Learning to sew can be a slow progression, but you can do it! Just start with the beginner sewing projects below and you will be well on your way to learning to sew. All of the tutorials are FREE.

So grab your essential sewing supplies, find a beginner sewing project from this list of over 30 free, fun beginner sewing projects and get started.
