How to make a Split Single Crochet Stitch

Split Single Crochet

This video and picture tutorial explains how to make a split single crochet stitch. The split single crochet stitch is created in the same way as a single crochet. The difference is where you place your hook to start the stitch. As you can see from the photo, the stitch makes rows of "V"s.

Split Single Crochet - Single Crochet Normal stitch placement

The photo above shows the normal place you would put a single crochet stitch. This is NOT where the split single crochet goes. See next photo.

Split Single Crochet - Stitch placement

See in the photo above, you put your hook through the middle of the previous stitch. So, in this case, I have a previous row of Split Single Crochet, so I put my hook in the middle of the "V" from the previous row. So, put your hook through the middle of the previous stitch.

Split Single Crochet - Yarn over 1

Then continue with your normal single crochet by yarn over.

Split Single Crochet - Pull through 1

Pull your hook through.

Split Single Crochet - Yarn over 2

Yarn over again.

Split Single Crochet - Pull through 2

And then pull through once more. You have completed the split single crochet. Notice that you have rows of "V"s.
