Hand Tying a Quilt

INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1:
Thread a needle with a 20" long piece of thread, floss, yarn or other tying material. If you have trouble threading the needle, watch this quick tip video on a super simple way to thread a needle.

STEP 2:
Determine where you want to place the ties.

STEP 3:
With the right side of the quilt facing up, insert the needle down through all quilt layers and bring it back up through all the layers about 1/4" away from where you went down. Pull the thread gently through the layers leaving about a 2" or 3" tail.

STEP 4:
Repeat a stitch in the same location, going down through the same hole and back up through the same hole.

STEP 5:
Make a triple knot. Tie a square knot and then one extra knot. Square Knot Tutorial Here

STEP 6:
Trim the tails to about 1/2" to 1" long.
