How to Prevent Laddering When Knitting With Double Pointed Needles

Laddering is stretched stitches that happens between double pointed needles. It is when you see the horizonal bars similar to the example above. There are a few techniques that can be used to prevent this from happening. This is one way to prevent it.Knitting Preventing Laddering

Knitting Preventing Laddering


When moving from one needle to the next, I place the needle holding the stitches to be knitted on top or above the previous needle.

To knit the first stitch onto the new needle, position the empty needle under the previous needle.

Pull the yarn snugly. This will make the two stitches close together and prevent laddering.
