Valentine's Origami Heart

This video will demonstrate how to fold a simple origami heart. A great Valentine's Day craft idea for kids.

HOW TO FOLD AN ORIGAMI HEART

STEP 1:
Start with a square piece of paper. The paper can be origami paper or constructions paper.

Fold the paper in half and cut along the crease line to form two rectangles. From one square piece of paper, you can make two hearts.

STEP 2:
Place one rectangle on a flat surface, fold in half, crease and unfold.
NOTE: If using origami paper, place the paper on a table color side down and white side up.

STEP 3:
With paper on table lengthwise, fold the long side up from the bottom of the rectangle approximate 1/3 of the way.

STEP 4:

Next, fold the right and left side of the rectangle to the center crease line. Crease.

STEP 5:
Turn the paper over. It should look like the following picture.

Fold each side inward. See photo below.

STEP 6:
Fold top corners down diagonally and crease paper.

After all four top corners are folded diagonally, it should look like this:

STEP 7:
Fold down the top tips slightly.

The origami heart is complete.

WHAT TO MAKE WITH ORIGAMI HEARTS
* Garland - Attached hearts to cord to make garland
* Heart Skewers - Glue or tape heart to skewers or dowels and use to decorate home
* Valentine's Day Card - Glue heart to card
* Bookmark - Use as a bookmark
* Pencil Decoration - Scotch tape to a pencil and give out at school Valentine's Party
* Wreath - Glue or tape hearts together in a circle to make a wreath
