How to paint on a mug

DIY Sharpie mugs are a great project for kids of all ages. Create unique personalized drinking mug. These mugs are excellent handmade gifts for Father's Day, birthdays and other holidays.

This craft is super EASY and INEXPENSIVE and KID FRIENDLY.

WHAT YOU NEED:

Sharpie Oil-Based Paint Markers
Plain Mug ($1 at Dollar Tree)

Important Note: Make sure to use oil-based paint markers. A lot of website will suggest using regular Sharpies but the regular sharpies will actually wash off in the dishwasher or when washed by hand.

INSTRUCTIONS

Prepare the Mug - Wash and dry the mug
Design Preparation - Decide on a design and use a pencil to roughly draw design or words on the mug
Paint the Mug - Paint design with Sharpie paint markers. If you make a mistake while painting, you can remove the paint with rubbing alcohol.
Drying - Let the mug dry for a few hours or overnight
Bake the Mug - Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. After the 30 minutes, turn oven off but allow mug to stay in oven until it cools. Baking helps set the paint.

The mug is ready to use.

Hand washing is recommended.
