This ice cream quilt was made by Chris using an embroidery machine and a pattern by Lunch Box Quilts. This was a fun quilt to make with the whimsical ice cream cones, sundaes and pops. Picking out fabrics for each of the ice cream was fun to create different flavors.
Watch our video below to find out more about this pattern. Then keep reading to see more close up photos of this wall hanging and to find links to patterns and supplies below.
Note: I tried to link a pattern. It's not available through Amazon but I see it on Etsy and Ebay. Do we have these?
These are some closeups of the different areas of the wall hanging. This quilt uses machine applique embroidery which steps you through adding the fabrics and then finishing around the edges of the fabrics for each ice cream. If you don't know how to machine applique embroidery, we have a video to explain how. The video even makes one of the quilts for this wall hanging as a sample.
The Lunch Box Quilts pattern includes instructions for completing a table runner or a large quilt. Since I wanted a smaller wall hanging, I used only a section of the full quilt and adjusted the pattern.
The Lunch Box Quilts pattern also includes the stitch charts for each of the different ice cream which helps you to know when to place the fabric, etc.
I love the dotted multi-color fabric used for the background between the ice cream. It resembles jimmies/sprinkles for on the ice cream.
If you have never tried Machine Applique embroidery, check out our video which shows you how.
