How to Sew a Fabric Sachet Bag

Sachets are small bags filled with aromatic ingredients.

Learn how to sew a simple fabric sachet by watching this video and reading the following step-by-step instructions. This project is so easy even someone learning to sew can make sachets.

2 pieces of fabric 10 ½” x 4”
16” piece of ribbon

With fabrics right sides together, sew the two pieces of fabric together. Sew the two long sides and one short side using a 1/4 inch sew allowance. Clip corners.

Fold the top down until bag measures about 6 inches.

Turn the bag right side out.

Fill the pouch with your favorite potpourri or your own dried flower mixture.

Where you plan on tying with ribbon, hand stitch the top closed using a running stitch.

Tie a colorful ribbon around the top where hand stitched.

This sachet are reusable. To easily refresh them, just removing the ribbon and hand stitching, replacing old potpourri with new, stitch closed again, tie with ribbon.

Place the sachet in drawers or closets to give your clothes, socks and lingerie a pleasant fragrance. Freshen the air in your car by placing a few sachets under the seats.
