How to make a heart pencil topper for Valentine's Day. This is a kid's friendly craft!
This is a cute idea that kids can make as a valentines gift for a school party, holiday event or just for fun to give to friends and family.
This project is inexpensive and so easy to make. You only need a few supplies which you probably already have - felt, pencil, scissor, double-stick tape, a sheet of paper, pen, needle and embroidery floss.![Heart Pencil Topper]()

To make the pencil topper watch the video above along with these step-by-step instructions:
1. With a pen draw a heart shape on a piece of felt and cut out two identical hearts. For a heart shape template, I used a cookie cutter but if you do not have a cookie cutter, check the Internet for heart shaped clip art.
2. Put the two heart pieces together and leaving a gap at the point of the heart, stitch around the heart with the embroidery floss using a running stitch.
3. For the sign, cut a strip of paper approximately 3/4" x 4 1/2". Write "Happy Valentine's Day" on the paper. Place some double stick tape on one end of the sign and then wrap it around the pencil leaving space for the felt heart.
4. Finally, put the heart shaped felt piece on the top of the pencil.
YOUR PENCIL TOPPER IS COMPLETE AND READY TO GIVE AS A GIFT.
