Working thread lengths should be 18 to 20 inches or, as an easy measure, from the tip of your middle finger to the bend of your elbow.

When you stitch with a metallic thread, you should never use any other thread in the same needle. The eye of the needle gets sharpened by the metallic thread. A Stitcher's Haven

To prevent your thread from twisting, let your threaded needle dangle from your fabric every so often. Your thread will unwind like magic! Dimensions


After embroidering, hand wash in cool water with a mild soap. Rinse and lie flat on a towel to dry. Using a clothes dryer is not recommended. Press with a warm iron on the wrong side of your work. Zweigart


To separate floss, grasp one thread with one hand while pushing down on the rest of the threads with your other hand.
